I'm exceptionally happy with the PP2CT (190/55 section) Even wear rate and the R1 is sharp as a tack on them... even more betterer than I am than it was ever before
I know that when it comes to tyre opinions, they're like arseholes, everybodies got one they call their own. The Rizzle is due for some new hoops, and I was curious as to what people think would be a good set to get fitted. I'm currently running Michelin Pilot Power, and they've done around 13500km. Yeah, I know, not bad.
However, in discussions with various people (you know who you are), I'm considering a change. Just once I'd like a tyre that wears evenly all over, and not just on a two inch strip down the middle. Now, before the smart arses amongst us say How about riding the bike properly, I have been.
So, what do people recommend? I await with eager anticipation a flood of replies.

I might have mentioned the Pilot Power front, Pilot Road 2CT rear combination I'm running. I'll be switching to a 2CT front Pilot Power next front, only for the confidence.
A really smart, well experienced rider you and I both know from Oakey, pointed out that on the road most people won't be using the full potential of the PP2CT. The rest are freaks. In fact, the PP1's seemed to do well enough for me on the 'old man' Fizzle so far, a couple of the guys that ride quicker than I do were actually running some sort of Bridgestone (ew!). If the Pilot Road 2CT lasts twice as long as the PP, then it's half the price. A worthy consideration.
I've not found that the Pilot Road 2CT has slowed me down... it felt a little different at first, but not slower... more that it's stable on the highway, and seems to have as much edge grip as I need for spirited riding. And it doesn't weep oil when pushed, even when the temps down here reached high 30's. I reckon I've put the Fizzle through more corners in the last month than it's seen in the previous 3 years.
And my 'old man' touring bike, with it's 'old man' touring rear tyre was recently described by someone really cool as 'a really fun bike to ride'... so it can't be that bad. Although, the same guy said I need to lose 10mm off the end of each handle bar... so I'll be getting the saw out when I get home.
Have just gone back to PP and am loving it. Was going to go for a PR2 but they did not have any and I couldn't wait.
So, Pilot Road 2CT for the rear, and a Pilot Power 2CT for the front.
It's a shame my budget doesn't extend to the Power Ones. At least, not on a long term basis.
I hope you've been keeping a list of mods done to the Fizzle. I'm thinking black.

lol... come over to the dark side. There are loads of ways you can achieve a similar result and keep it individual... you know, same same but different. You can probably do it more economically than I did it, and avoid the 'oooh, you've just gone and made it an R1' comments.
As for the power Ones... I doubt you'd really get any benefit from using them on the street...
Hmmm, $14,900 ride away for the Fizzle, or $19,000 ride away for the street triple. Decisions decisions....

Speed, street. They both start with s so you can understand why I get these things confused.

My name is Andrew and i think Speed Triples are ugly!, there i've said it!
Yeah, but there's something about them that just makes them so desirable.

Yah but does the PR2 come in a 190/55? We also tend to get 10,000km out of the PP's with even front and rear wear rates...

Negative on the 190/55. Don't get me wrong, I think 13500km for a set of tyres on a litre bike is pretty good. If I can get more mileage without sacrificing grip then that's even better. As that mutual friend pointed out, I don't get anywhere near the tyres limits on the street. Therefore, I can afford to go for a harder compound without worrying about a compromise in grip.

Ok, update on the tyre situation. Had new hoops fitted today, Pilot Road 2CT on the rear and a Power on the front. Still taking it easy while I scrub the wax off, but initial feel is good.
I don't quite know how to explain it, but when she's on the move she wants to tip in or change direction very quickly. However, when I'm pushing the bike around, e.g moving bike out from under house and on to driveway, she feels like she's got a flat tyre. Weird.
On another note, I ended up finally buying a set of Draggin Jeans. From Rising Sun no less. Got very good service from them (yeah, go figure), and they even gave me a 10% discount. Of course, turning up in cams probably helped. Rising Sun was very helpful, they put up with all my questions and answered them to my satisfaction. Thumbs up to them for that.

Story of my life. If I'd waited three weeks I could have gotten an 09 R1.
