Putty Road you lucky bastard!!!
From about 2 hours ago, and until 26th March or so... I have the bike, and a mate that just bought a Street Triple.
Look out roads, here we come.
You might expect some shitty phone camera pics over the next few weeks...
Probably this weekend... looks like 2:30pm (1430hrs, TJ) knocks for the first 4 weeks... dinner is at 6pm. I have to find something besides the bar to keep me occupied for 3.5 hours every afternoon.
I'm mega pissed, the GPS is playing up. Sucks cos this place is a shit to navigate. Or is it just that I am geographically challenged?
Anyways, took a short run out to Warragamba Dam yesterday arv, before it started to shower (cos I wouldn't call it rain). Even just taking a 15 minute run to the shops there were more twisties than the hotmix on Mt Stuart.
Hey Brad a few of us will be at the Putty sometime Monday 23rd Feb probably mid afternoon should come out for a blat in that 3 1/2 hours you have spare![]()
Ken oath... I'll PM you my mobile... SMS me on the day and I'll get my shit over there.
Just because I can...
The bike on the trailer... legally I can't claim the bike for own expenses travel, so to prevent fraud charges it went on the trailer... the girly 4WD is not mine, it's borrowed. TJ can tell you about the trailer.
The Street Triple belongs to a mate of mine... he ran out of time and asked me to add k's to the clock and drop it off for a service. The things a bloke will do for a mate. Sigh.
Sorry about the crappy phone pics.

The trailer is certainly looking a lot better than the last time I saw it. I take it you got everything done on it that you wanted to.
Street Triple eh? I hope for your sake the Fizzle didn't see you throw a leg over it. They can get a bit sensitive about those sorts of things.
If you lie, no one will trust you.
If you tell the truth, no one will like you.
Some people accuse me of thinking the world revolves around me, but it doesn't. It revolves around the sun, which shines out my arse!!
And it would have been worth it, too!!
I got most of it done, although I only had to spend most of my time working in a small river as my back yard tried to dump water through the carport. Andy let me leave the Fizzle in his garage, and the door was shut as I rode away on the triple... I don't think it knows, but it might be suspicious.
AYE FIRM!
If I didn't have a motorcycle here I'm sure I would have shot someone by now... myself included. And it's only been a week.
My time at Orchard Hills made me do silly things, like drink large amounts of beer and do something called 'working out'. Other stupid things included going to night clubs in Penrith and spending far too much time at Panthers leagues club.
If they have not been there already, let the noobs on your course know that The Block night club in Penrith is a good place to spend a safe and wholesome evening. How's old lynchy going?
Yes... old Lynchy. He's a bit of a character, isn't he... I think I might be pestering him with many a question pertaining to how we maintain it in the real world, which seems to be messing with his 'I don't really care cos this is only OMT' attitude... in fact, I think my line of questioning has altered the order in which he presents the course. But fuck it, I wanna try this shit out where I can't get in the shit for crashing the system. I am especially interested in how to use hyper-terminal in lieu of the VDU. Imagine that.
Hanger doors are now closed, and we can now return to your regular programming...
Sydney is experiencing a bout of Townsville weather... high temps, high humidity, lots of rain. I am doing my best to imply to the locals that 'this is nothing', but I have to tell you it's been hot, wet and muggy. Consequently, no riding today. The street triple has no protection from the rain, which sounds funny for a guy that rides a naked anyway, but man I really got wet the other day. I had a stream of water running down my inner thigh. Anyway, I'm not pushing Andy to ride in the rain now because the little triple lets you get crazy wet.
What we did yesterday... the odo reckons a little over 230km yesterday afternoon. Not bad for an after-work ride.
This weekend, there are practical assessments for our training... and the duration of the exam is such that only 3 people will get through each day. This means I get a long weekend... what to do with my day off??
How about THIS??
Whats the bet you do Macquarie pass and Kangaroo valey a second time.
FWIW try really hard to get a lot os space between yourself and any vehicles in front of you.
IMO its wirth a slow ride until the twisties on the rise than to run through the few corners at the bottom if you are going to be stuck behind a slower vehicle.
Yeah Mac pass and kangaroo valley is great if you can ride it with no traffic but you can always just pass on double lines just ignore the bleating horns and be careful of heavy haulage coming the other way that sometimes cuts corners especially the two hairpins
P.S. Brad, did not ring you on return journey back from WSBK because thought you would not be interested in Putty in the rain, not much fun..
Brad that's a good run you've plotted. I've done it about a year ago in a 4x4 (Whilst dreaming of riding it instead!). Slight deviation well worth a look is branch off the Princess at Gerringong and go for Gerroa. worth a look at the golf course on the ocean side and good up and down stuff leading in to Gerroa. Keep going sth and take Beach Rd back out to Berry. Also with this wind up here and weather patterns forming you should see some cool action at the Kiama Blow Hole! Enjoy!
That trip was awesome...
There was a little damp through RNP on the way south, and some sticks on the road... still great riding through there.
The coast from RNP to the 'Gong is very scenic, and at a traffic pace of 50 - 60kph it's still a really nice ride.
Macquarie pass is still the best riding road I've ever been on. It is simply amazing, great surface, not a lot of traffic on a Monday, perfect mix of all different corners. At our first encounter on the pass one of the group and myself went back down for another run. Most of the traffic we encountered on the pass was trade vehicles.
Kangaroo Valley is a very good stretch as well, although it is practically identical terrain to Mac Pass, it lacks some of that magic (for me).
Pacific Highway from Nowra (just outside of Nowra) to Kiama has some really great sweepers, which at the posted speed limit are very interesting... more than that and they become a challenge.
Fuel stop!! Holy empty tanks batman... the same fuel that would normally get me 200km or so got me 148km instead!! We were having a lot of fun, after all.
Jambaroo is an interesting road, in parts it's very similar to Paluma, unmarked lanes, bumpy corners... the moss there is much worse than Paluma tho, parts of the road were a lush green colour!! Still, was an intersting way to get to the top of Mac Pass again.
Then the run home... after our final descent on Mac Pass, the pace dropped to a more commuting tempo as everyone was a little tired by this stage.
All up, I met two guys at 8am, we picked up another after a brief wait, fuel stops, some stops to get the group back together, and a stop for lunch... 500k's took us 9 and a bit hours.
Right about now I hate you so much...

I was thinking about this ride... and you know it would have been worth the hassle of getting the bike here just for that one loop.
I have reinforced my desire to ride Taswegia... biggest logistical issue now is how long before I have enough leave to do it properly.
Funny how I haven't even made it home and I am thinking about the next trip.
