Practice begins today for local racers Ross "Maestro" Taylor and Tim "Wobbles" Lusk in the Australian SuperMoto Championship being hosted in Perth, WA.

Taylor, the current #3 S1 Australian SuperMoto racer is keen to see what his new Rising Sun Honda sponsored 2009 Honda CRF-450 can do when ridden at the next level in a Championship race. The new bike, which has had its geometry sorted by Greg McDonald from G.M.D Computrack, fitted with a CLAKE, and tuned by Rising Sun Honda has already smashed lap records in club and state rounds throughout the state.

This weekend will see him with the best chance to take home the #1 plate, which would be a well deserved win after years of struggling with little to no sponsorship until recently.

Tim "Wobbles" Lusk, a relative new comer to the racing scene has been setting amazing personal bests every time he goes out to race. The Burdekin Motorcycles sponsored rider on his 2007 Yamaha YZF-450 has already won the Townsville Motorcycle Clubs Senior Motard Championship, finished second in the NQ Road Racing Championship (Motard) and finished second overall in the recently run round of the Qld Championships in Townsville, beating home Jesse Whacker from the Morgan and Whacker team. Tim attended his first ever race meeting in August 2008.

Whilst Ross will be competing in the renamed S2 class (>450cc) against international racers including Christian Iddon, Lusk will be up against Davide Gozzini, currently 3rd in the FIM SuperMoto S1 (450cc) class.

We wish both the best of luck with their coming races and know they will do all of North Queensland proud!
