Initially, you think the FZ1 handles pretty good for a sports tourer, right? Sure... but pretty good can always be improved upon.
With just 8km on the clock, the front end came out of the bike. I had secured (on eBay) a number of 2004 R1 parts; radial calipers, radial master cylinder, throttle assy, res, axle, various bolts/nuts and complete forks. Add to the list Braking wave discs and Michelin Pilot Power tyres.

The standard FZ1 pegs are massive, rubber topped, wide and heavy. At the slightest lean angle they are dragging on the ground giving everyone behind you the shits.

Rearsets are an option, albeit an expensive one. They usually have fixed 'race' pegs that can get into trouble with the law, too. Finding good rearsets with folding pegs is next to impossible, but you can buy folding pegs as an accessory for the Rizoma rearsets here
After our little outing on Tuesday night I am really, seriously thinking I should keep the bike.
Here's what did it... the thing is quick, seriously quick (considering it's old man status)... yet throughout the ride Tuesday night the thing was smooth, rideable at lower speeds, you could even say friendly. This is something I never really noticed before...
Compared to all the bikes I had modified before, they was quick, and fun... but unfortunately cnuts to live with when
I figure I might post up the transformation from the stock standard GenII FZ1 into the Mighty FZ1 as it exists today...
